About the painting: Marge is a watercolour artist living in Armonk, NY. She has been my best friend and mentor since I came from China about 3 decde ago. During a week visit this summer, I painted her 3 portraits but only this one turned out for my liking. I started out with greenish wash as base, adding color layers gradually but trying to leave some base color showing through. By playing with transparent and opaque color, I find satisfaction through this practice.
