About the painting: The sunspots created by explosions on the sun’s surface during a solar storm look oddly like huge sunflowers. I found the granulation of the surface, seen through a telescope quite fascinating and tried to capture the effect here.

About the painting:
Painted after experiencing a Sweat Lodge Ceremony.  Near the beginning of the ceremony, everyone’s grandfathers were called upon to hear and aid in whatever we we needed assistance with. The experience  left a deep impression that seemed to open doors to my creativity.

Born in Northern Ireland, I have always had a great interest in colour and texture and have spent many years working on tapestries and weavings. Since 2001 I have been painting scenes of Northern Ireland and Italy in oils and landscapes in pastel. My most recent works have been multi-media abstracts.
