The massive Danforth Bridge always captivated me. My first painting of it, a full size watercolour, bought by The City of Toronto, was of the bridge before the protection at the top, which may be very convenient, but ugly. Its real name is the Prince Edward Viaduct System, or more commonly know as The Viaduct, and it was completed in 1918.

This is another view of this area of Jarvis and King which appeals me  a lot because for its 19th century buildings and modern Toronto.This full size watercolour is called “St. Lawrence Hall at Jarvis and  King, Toronto”. The St. Lawrence Hall was built in 1850 to serve as  the City’s public meeting place. Today it is the facility of choice  for the film industry, TV series and music videos.

After a life as a cartographer and architectural illustrator, I
enjoy to portrait in detail the architecture of Toronto,
the places where we mingled, where we worked, where we loved, places
of worship and learning,
the Toronto we carry in our minds.

This painting is part of a large collection of oils and watercolours  about the architecture of Toronto. I trust that one day they will be considered historical pieces of a  Toronto relentlessly changing by modernity.
